The laboratory began in late 2020 as a COVID-19 testing facility, the Canadian operation of a foreign-owned parent company. When that parent redirected its focus to cancer screening technology development, the people who had built and run the laboratory bought it — a management buy-out completed in September 2026 by operators with direct experience of accredited diagnostic operations in this province.
Our advantage is proximity. We understand this province’s communities, practitioners and regulatory environment first-hand — and we are building a platform that brings national laboratory capability to local community testing, modernised around the point of care.

Ownership, operations and patient data all remain in Canada, under Canadian privacy law. Supporting local healthcare infrastructure, with a long-term commitment to the province’s healthcare needs.

A broad menu across chemistry, hematology and cytopathology, including specialist capability in corporate wellness and workplace health that no BC laboratory offers on its own.

Practitioner-ordered screening the public plan does not fund, available to patients and employers who choose to manage health proactively.
British Columbia’s population is ageing, and more people are managing their health before something goes wrong rather than after. Employers are investing in it. Practitioners outside the physician-only model are ordering it.
Publicly funded laboratory medicine is built for diagnosis, and it does that well. Proactive screening sits outside what it funds — which is where an accredited private network, close to the community and open to every eligible practitioner, has a role to play alongside it.
The NovaPoint network launched for community-based wellness and diagnostic screening, with the first sites going live through late 2025 and early 2026 and further locations preparing to follow.
The network is live today at NovaPoint Pharmasave City Square, with CarePoint Joyce and Pharmasave Mt. Pleasant launching and Georgia Healthcare Centre scheduled to follow — bringing the network to four operating sites by the end of 2026.
Partnerships are in place at every level the model depends on: reference laboratories for the specialist menu, instrument manufacturers for the point-of-care platform, and pharmacies, medical clinics and healthcare centres as the community sites themselves.
Collaboration and community engagement are not aspirations for us. They are how the network is built.

Nova Laboratories was established to pursue the following.
Providing access to reliable health screening closer to the communities where people live.
Modernizing British Columbia’s healthcare system with technologies that allow reactive diagnostics to become proactive screening pathways for wellness management.
Increasing healthcare access for underserved rural communities across British Columbia.
These are the values the laboratory has always worked to.
Our commitment extends to everyone we serve. Every decision is guided by the goal of providing accurate, reliable and timely diagnostic information, so that the people who receive our results — patients and those managing their own health alike — can make informed decisions.
Behind every sample and requisition is a person with their own health concerns and goals. We approach the work with empathy and an understanding of our role in each individual’s healthcare journey. Honesty and transparency are the foundation of the care we provide.
Staying current with medical advancement is part of running a laboratory properly. We work continuously to improve the precision and accessibility of our services, refining our diagnostic processes for patients who need information quickly and for those taking a preventive approach to their health.
Healthcare does not stand still. We follow local healthcare initiatives and adopt proven practices from other jurisdictions, so that our services meet the needs of people managing a health condition and those taking proactive steps to maintain their health.
Advancing community healthcare is not something a laboratory does alone. By partnering with organizations that share our values, we extend the range of services we can offer and keep them comprehensive, accessible and affordable.
